The MAGNUM OPUS OF THE TWILIGHT YOGA is the work
of Laurence Amos Miles, a young student of Aleister Crowley, who had advised him
to go to India and study Tantra from its masters. He arrived in India broke and
sought out a guru as instructed, not long after Crowley’s death. The guru that
accepted him was none other than Shri Lokanath the Avadhoot of Uttarkashi (U.P)
India and the leader of the Adi-Nath sect of Tantrikas and he was given the
Tantric name Mahendranath. This happened in July 1953 e.v. and it meant that he
would assume the gurus status when he died. His guru passed away in 1960
granting him a mandate to spread the teachings of Tantra to the West (Europe and
America), as India was then thought to be too prudish to maintain the cult
alone.
On the 1st of January 1978 Shri
Gurudeva Dadaji Mahendranath 999 (he had gained status somewhat throughout Asia
by then) issued a charter to set up a magickal order for the West. With the help
of his new successor to the Adi-Nath leadership, Michael Magee, named Shri
Lokanath Maharaj (named after the previous master), The ARKANE And MAGICKAL
ORDER OF The KNIGHTS OF SHAMBHALA [A.M.O.O.K.O.S.] was established. Its purpose
was to spread the teachings of Adi-Natha Tantra to the West in a way that is
practical to those living there.
The copyright issue is down to the fact that
Dadaji, as Mahendranath is known affectionately, was also involved in many other
initiatory traditions and so collected disciples all over the world. I therefore
submit the link to this work via my tradition, from Shri Gurudeva Lokanath
Maharaja’s website.
